KCN Water Distribution Line - Phase 2

Kehewin Cree Nation sponsored an upgrade of the existing water treatment plant and provided water services to 68 residences. Option worked with the Nation to find cost savings of $2.5 million, providing an opportunity to expand the project scope to include additional phases (2B, 2A and Hwy 41). Option also participated in the pilot program for Pehta, a new financial reporting tool for First Nations.

Construction Particulars

• Laydown and site preparation (clearing, grubbing and electrification)
• 200mm water main installation (10.5 km) via HDD and two tie ins to the existing infrastructure
• Upgrades to the water treatment plant, including distribution pump system upgrade
• 68 residential service connections of 40mm pipe via HDD, one trickle feed system installation, the decommission of 70 residential cisterns
• Installation of air release valves (17), gate valves (13), and blow offs (5)
• Extra work: Ph 2B 200mm water main installation via HDD (2.7 km) and service connections across Ph 2B, 2A and Hwy 41
